Exercices de Style et Autres
French skits performed by High School Drama Club

 

Raymond Queneau's Exercices de Style might perhaps most aptly be described as a linguistic tour de force. Taking as his point of departure an incident of the utmost banality -a two-paragraph, thirteen-line account of an altercation between two individuals on a Paris bus and their chance reencounter, a few hours later, in front of the Gare St. Lazare- the author proceeds to retell the “story” in an endless variety of styles, points of view, genres, and so on in ninety-nine different ways, to be precise.  Extracts of Exercices de Style along with others skits will be presented in French by the High School Drama Club, directed by Mr. Pierre Leloup.
