About the Film

This is the first foray into animated film for the highly versatile director of The Artist (Oscar winner in 2012) and the first two installments of the spy comedy series OSS 117.

Adapted from a play by Jean-Claude Grumberg, The Most Precious of Cargoes evokes the memory of the Holocaust and the fate of a Jewish child who miraculously escapes deportation to the Nazi extermination camp at Auschwitz.

The film was selected to compete for the 2024 Palme d'Or, and will be presented at The American French Film Festival prior to its release in France.

About the Reception

Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles Celebrates 60 Years of Excellence

Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles was founded by Raymond and Esther Kabbaz in 1964; both were teachers at the Lycée in New York for several years. At the time the state of California prohibited schools from teaching in any language other than English. Mr. and Mrs. Kabbaz petitioned in Sacramento to change the Code of Education. Their historic effort paved the way for the opening of Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles and for the many other multilingual schools, such Armenian, Korean, etc. that now flourish in California.

Over the course of 60 years, Le Lycée has accompanied thousands of students as they grow from preschoolers into knowledgeable, talented, and dedicated high school graduates who are motivated to attend college with the determination to go out into the world and achieve greatness. The international school remains one the most well-respected college-prep schools in Los Angeles known all over the world.
