In this ambitious compilation of eight short, animated films by French filmmakers, TRK showcases the medium’s unlimited expressive potential that not even the magic of special effects can provide, as audiences are taken on a journey into real and imagined worlds far from the here and now.
Pierre Leloup, Artistic Director of Theatre Raymond Kabbaz thinks: “Animated film is an art form in its own on right, efficiently introducing challenging topics in a visually compelling way, leaving plenty of room for symbolism, fantasy, and manifold narrative strategies.”
Indeed, Animation Fest at TRK contains themes best digested by adults, sure to inspire thought-provoking conversations during the intermission, over a glass of wine and cheese plate.
Animation Fest is presented on International Animation day, a global event which celebrates the art of animation, originally invented in the 1920s as a response to other forms of abstract art. At its origin, early animated films aimed to induce in the viewers' an emotional reaction solely through rhythm, motion, shapes and light.
All films are with English subtitles. Suitable for ages 15 and up.
The screening is presented in theatre and online.
