A Night of French Short Films

Showcasing a wide variety of stories and styles, the screening is a selection of short films chosen from 2020’s nominees at the César (French Oscars), Clermont Ferrand Short Film Festival and other selected short film festivals. Discover the most creative and innovative French filmmakers!

The evening’s format will be presented in two one-hour-long programs with a 15-minute intermission, which will include complimentary wine and cheese tasting.

Part 1

Yandere by William Laboury, 2019

Fiction- Fantasy

Maïko, Tommy's holographic girlfriend, loves him with an endless love - until the day that Tommy leaves her for another girl, a flesh and blood one. Overwhelmed by an unfamiliar feeling, Maïko discovers the taste of her own tears. Tears which transform her flesh and give her a taste for blood.

Harold, a young Frenchman of Vietnamese descent, brings his grandfather a comfortable leather armchair. But the old man finds it disconcerting, having been used to a simple, modest life.

Animated Film- Cartoon

A father and his sons are out at sea on their sailing boat when suddenly they hit a rock. Panic stations!

Nefta Football Club by Yves Piat, 2018

Fiction- Comedy

In a Tunisian village, children are playing football on a wasteland. Meanwhile, Abdallah and Mohammed come across a donkey with headphones on his ears and bags full of a white powder on his back. The two young brothers decide to bring those bags back to their village.

Documentary- Portrait

They are barely twenty years old. They're robust, fragile, clever. They are called Allia, Hamza, Killian, and Maélis. They spend time saying who they are, naming what they are, hollow and full. Vox clamantis in deserto and we listen. The film is their imprint.

 Air Comprimé (Shooters) by Antoine Giorgini, 2018

Fiction- Drama

Vincent, who lacks control over his pupils, is a math teacher in a high school. One day, he and his wife Hélène, who is five months pregnant, are the target of a hidden paintball shooter. Although not injured, they are traumatized. While Hélène decides to forget the attack, Vincent becomes convinced that the shooter is one of his young students.
