LOS ANGELES, CA – Violins of Hope, Los Angeles County is proud to present its Opening Gala Featuring Delirium Musicum on Wednesday, December 1st, 2021 at 7:30pm.

Using a collection of violins, violas and cellos rescued from the Holocaust, Etienne Gara, Founder and Artistic Director of the LA-based chamber orchestra, Delirium Musicum, will perform a program rooted in the traditions passed on by the great masters, to build a future filled with hope and resilience.

Delirium Musicum is a new generation of classical musicians dedicated to providing impassioned and engaging musical performances that deeply connect the audience to the musicians. The chamber orchestra will perform on some of the finest rescued and restored instruments from the Holocaust, bringing fresh approach to the old masters through a program including pieces by Johannes Brahms, Philip Glass, as well as an hommage to the “Fiddler", by their composer-in-residence, Gianluca Bersanetti.

This opening gala will raise money in support of Violins of Hope’s mission to educate the public about the Holocaust through music and culture using violins, violas and cellos, and educate about history, hoping that the lessons learned will diminish hatred, bigotry and anti-Semitism.

The instruments will take center stage in this performance; rescued and restored by Israeli luthiers Amnon and Avshi Weinstein, who have devoted the last 20 years to locating and restoring broken, buried, silenced instruments as a tribute to those who perished during the Holocaust. After restoration, these precious instruments bring renewed life to celebrate the future by speaking to the world through the language of music. Today, the instruments serve not only as powerful reminders of an unimaginable time in history but as meaningful lessons to reinforce key lessons of tolerance, inclusion and diversity, equally important today and for the future. They are our storytellers, reinforcing positive messages of hope and harmony, transcending religious and other barriers through music, art, social justice and free expression to achieve common goals.
